We love our Customers and from what They Say, They Love Mountain Pacific Chalet!

There is so many wonderful things to do here!

Brian,

I just personally wanted to thank you for giving us the opportunity to stay at the cabin.  You have a gem there.  We had such a wonderful time.  There is so many wonderful things to do there.  The hikes are awesome.  We are so looking forward to some more time there, and personally I look forward to doing some fishing, we spent time playing games and hiking and rock hunting with our girls.  You have done a beautiful on that place.  We cleaned up really well so the house cleaner would not have much to do.  All of our girls actually clean homes for work.  We wanted to leave it nice for them.  I am sure we will be in touch.

Whenever you are thinking about re doing your flooring at the Alaska cabin, let me know.  If you are still planning on that I would love to take you up on it.  Hope all is well up there for you and your family.

Thanks again.

Mitch

Perfect Mountain Lodging!

September 2018

We had a wonderful stay at the Mountain Pacific Chalet September 21-28, 2018. It rained briefly on
Saturday morning, the day after we arrived, but the weather the rest of the week was perfect, blue skis
and 65 to 70 degrees every day. We enjoyed hiking all the trails on the property numerous times and
did some short hikes around Cape Perpetua and onto several beaches up and down the coast. We
enjoyed dinner in Florence, Yachats and Northport. The cabin is comfortable and homey, and is a
perfect mountain lodging with the most spectacular view we have ever had the opportunity to enjoy
anywhere in the country, and we have stayed along the East Coast from Maine to Miami, spent a lot of
time in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, California and Hawaii.
It was a relaxing week. We were amazed that we didn’t tire of sitting in the chairs in front of those large
front windows and just taking in that amazing view.

Enjoyed Beautiful Sunsets and Seals playing everyday!

September 2018

I really enjoyed staying at the Mountain Chalet with my husband in September 2018. The cabin was cozy, comfortable, & met all our needs. I especially loved the privacy of the home’s location. The view of the Pacific is gorgeous! We enjoyed beautiful sunsets & watching seals play in the water everyday!!! We did a lot of relaxing, but also much exploring as there is so much to see and do! The cabin location is between the cities of Yachats & Florence. The most stunning coastline I have ever seen lies between these two cities. Beauty abounds everywhere. I hope to visit again!

Ulta private, ultra clean, UNSURPASSED VIEW!! Well maintained. We saw Elk, Deer and Whales while staying at the cabin and enjoyed the many hiking trails that START right at the cabin. We also had the secluded beach all to ourselves. The cabin is open and spacious and the open view from the jacuzzi tub in the upstaires bath is what made it for us! Can't go wrong with this unique cabin!!

Have stayed here 3 times in the last 10yrs. One of the most beautiful places on the coast. The house sits on the mountain with fantastic views of the ocean. The home is very clean with everything you'll need for a night or better yet for the week. There is so much to see and do within a short drive up and down the coast. Many nice trails on the property, one leading to giant spruce tree you'll have to see. Don't like walking? Try a soak in the hot tub and enjoy a sunset with a glass of Oregon wine. The home is very well furnished and comfortable. Draw backs? None unless you need a cell phone in your hand all the time. If you really need your phone fix, drive into beautiful Yachats, have a great meal, shop the little shops and call everyone and tell them what a great place this is.

Having never stayed at a vacation rental before our family had no idea what to expect. When we arrived we were awe struck by the beauty of this cabin and the location. The morning we checked out we woke up to a storm rolling in. Wile looking out of the huge front windows at the ocean my husband said "Even a gray day is a beautiful day here!"

Amazing beaches, tide pools, beautiful hiking trails, and awesome sunsets. My children enjoyed the trails down to the beach, especially Whitewater Trail. Whitewater Trail consists of a rope system used to climb down/up the steep embankments. If rope system trail hiking is not your thing there are several beaches within a 5 minute drive. My children also love tide pools which were in abundance during low tide. The Giant Tree trail loops around a huge old growth tree, while Seal Pt. trail hikes along under a low canopy of trees and bushes. At the end of Seal Pt. trail you can view the coastline to the north and south. To the west beneath the point you will find an old shipwreck, also each able by beach at low tides.

The cabin was spacious yet very cozy. All the creature comforts of home and a full kitchen. We loved being able to BBQ our dinner. The hot tub was the perfect way for the family to unwind while watching the sunset and the waves roll in. The loft was loved by the whole family. The best part about bedtime was falling asleep to the sounds of waves crashing on the beach.

We enjoy lighthouses and visited 3 while exploring the coastline. Oregon Coast Aquarium is only an hour drive north. Florence and Dunes National Recreation Area are about an hour drive south. Both have numerous beach access points.

Our family can't wait to stay here again!

The best part about this cabin is the endless fun. The part I enjoyed most was using the ropes to climb down to the beach. Tide pools are everywhere you turn during low tides. Kite flying was great at Dunes National Recreation Area to the south and on Agate beach to the north. We enjoyed eating ice cream in Newport at BJ's. Whale watching and Thor's Well were amazing at Cape Perpetua. If you like to explore lighthouses there are several within an hour drive in either direction. Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport was a fun little day trip too. The hiking trails around the cabin were green and beautiful. Watching sunsets from the hot tub was enjoyed by our whole family. It was also amazing to see the little lights from fishing boats twinkle at night.

We had a wonderful time while staying at the chalet. We walked the trails, combed the beach, relaxed in the hot tub and enjoyed the beautiful view from inside the chalet. Not many places that you can enjoy mountains, forest and beach all at once. Did have trouble with outside lighting, but was fixed the day after being reported and worked well after that. Was great to have washer/dryer and dishwasher. Would definately like to return at some point in time. and recommend to others.

We just returned from Oregon and spent 3 nights @ Mountain Pacific Chalet. WOW! It was exactly as advertised. Beautiful, private, quiet and loved just watching the ocean from the living room windows. We were already dreading having to leave before the first day had passed! Will definitely return and picked up several cards to give to friends who I am sure would appreciate this special place like we did. Have rented several VRBO cabins and not been disappointed yet, but this cabin so far has been the best and the price is quite reasonable for what you get (Million Dollar view and location) We did try the Beach Comber tavern Brian (the owner) recommended in Florence. One of the Best burgers I have had and the onion rings were un-surpassed. (Beer pretty good too! :) A couple of the staff (the hot tub guy and cleaning person) showed up right before we left and had nothing but good things to say about the place and the owner. Cannot wait to return and spend a little --or a lot more time! David and Mary K.--Wichita, Kansas

Secluded Getaway with a Stunning View and Endless Sight Seeing!!!

Stayed Jun 2015

This was my first trip to the Mountain Pacific Chalet in Oregon. I say "my first trip" because I plan to make this a recurring vacation spot. I brought my parents & my two young children along. This is where you go if you don't want to be found. To quote Jacques Yves Cousteau, "The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever." The only sound you will hear are the ocean waves. It's such a tranquil place to stay & you will not forget that sound. The chalet is pretty much right in the middle of the towns of Yachats & Florence on Highway 101. Because it's on the outside of each town, there's not much traffic on the highway. You can't even see the highway, let alone hear any traffic over the ocean. You do have to cross the highway to get to the beach, but since there's not much traffic, it's no problem & I wasn't even nervous to take my little ones across. We spent a lot of time on the beach during the week.

The day we arrived, it was pretty overcast. Two planes & a layover later, it kind of set the mood for an evening of rest. After tucking the kids into bed, my parents & I took advantage of the hot tub overlooking the ocean with a bottle of wine. This became a nightly tradition. The moon reflecting on the water is an absolutely magical sight to see; the waves crashing on the beach with nothing but pitch black & twinkling stars all around you!

The first morning, my dad & I took a hike up the mountain through the National Forest using one of the many nature paths. The sun wasn't quite over the mountain yet, but once it came through the trees, it was heavenly. I took several photos of the sun's rays streaming through the leaves & branches. A nature photographer's dream setting! To quote John Muir, "The clearest way into the universe is through a forest wilderness." I could have spent an entire day on that mountain in the forest, but there was so much more to do!

We visited two lighthouses: Heceta Head in Florence & Yaquina Head in Newport. We drove up the mountain for hours drinking in the forest. We took a walk at South Jetty admiring the dunes. Had some amazing food at the Salty Dawg in Waldport, the Drift Inn in Yachats (& live music!), the Traveler's Cove in Florence (more live music!!), etc & enjoyed oysters for the first time at the Bridgewater Bar in Florence. The shopping in Florence was fantastic! Faced my fear of heights at Cape Perpetua. I wish I had time for more!

Next time, I'll need two weeks!

Best Vacation Yet!

I fell in love with Oregon before our plane ever landed! The mountains were incredible! But nothing prepared me for what was in store once we got to the Mountain Pacific Chalet! The most amazing part was the ocean view, but turn 90 degrees to your left, then 90 degrees again, and 90 degrees again--- all you see is mountain and forest!

I would have loved to spend the entire time at the beach. That was my favorite place to be. I brought several souvenirs home from the beach. I brought some Ziploc bags with me so I could collect some sand, and I also brought home several shells, beautiful rocks, some driftwood, and even found a perfectly intact sand dollar. I found a few shells of red and purple left behind by crabs, but they broke on the journey home. I made a beautiful beach display with my loot. I enjoyed walking and running on the beach, and climbing the rocks.

Another of my favorite things to do was watch the sea lions, though all they did mostly was sleep. There were so many of them on the rocks covered in barnacles that seemed to disappear as the tide came in. I was able to get pretty close to them on the beach, but I also loved watching them and the fishing boats go by with the binoculars that were provided.

I had such a great time, and the Wi-Fi that was provided was an added benefit so we could share all of our pictures and videos as we took them- and there was no shortage of that! We may have gone a little crazy and took over 2,000 photos and videos! It was just so beautiful there that we wanted to capture every moment!

The cabin was beautiful, the beds were comfortable. It was an astonishing vacation with fun activities, free attractions, great food everywhere we went, and no shortage of places to shop. I've recommended to all of my family and friends to stay here and I will definitely be returning.

Million Dollar Vacation At a Low Cost!

Stayed Jun 2015

I was absolutely blown away by the Mountain Pacific Chalet! It's everything I imagined and more! It's gated, private, rustic, and in great condition! All of the carpet looked brand new. I was elated to see a stackable HE washer dryer set. The place was spotless and there was no lack of dish and cookware. And there was a dishwasher! The last thing you want to do on vacation is dishes! All of the furniture was nice and very comfortable. All of the towels were nice, clean, and soft. There was no shortage of blankets or other amenities. The lighting in the house was perfect with all of the beautiful windows and the skylights upstairs. At night, ambient. There are even lights with dimmers. Honestly though, you don't want the lights on at night because you'll be spending your evenings outside seeing millions of stars and constellations, and the moon reflecting on the ocean. There were a few flashlights provided to guide your way outside. Many outdoor chairs are provided, and there's a nice picnic table as well. Also provided were a set of binoculars. Genius!

The hot tub outside was my favorite. Day or night, made no difference. The view is stunning. The deck was very well built and in a prime location. It made for some memorable ocean-view sunsets!

The Jacuzzi tub was so relaxing and the open view allows you to watch the ocean from the tub as well, and still hold conversations with anyone downstairs at the same time. Brilliant construction! The tub is set to a timer, which is a great thing because I could have wasted an entire day away in there and thought only 30 minutes had passed. This way, I could actually set it to 30 minutes and not feel bad!

The downstairs bathroom has a two person shower. That was nearly as relaxing as the Jacuzzi tub! There are seats on either side of the shower and it was almost like being outside standing (or sitting!) in a warm rain. The exhaust fan also was on a timer which, too, is brilliant.

I enjoyed only minimal time watching TV. Television is provided via dish and the TV is an updated flat screen. It almost makes me wonder why there was even a TV at all. All of the entertainment you needed was outside. What was even better was the sound system! I just hooked up my iPod to the audio cable and pressed play. The surround sound was up-to-date and I didn't even have to change any of the settings. The sound was A-MAZ-ING!

I could just go on and on. I loved it, and will definitely return in the near future!

Wife and I spent 4 nights here recently, and had a great time. The property is up off the road, across the highway from the ocean, and has a great view. It's well-appointed, but still has that rustic cabin feel to it. The outdoor hot tub was wonderful, and probably our favorite feature of the property. The house initially had a strong musty odor, but we found that went away if we kept the laundry room door closed.

A note about the whole "privacy" issue: The property truly feels very secluded, like a cabin nestled deep in the woods. It should be noted, though, that the privacy INSIDE the cabin can be tricky. The upstairs bedroom and bathroom are both completely open to the rest of the house. This may be okay with just 1 couple, but with larger groups it's something to consider. There is only 1 enclosed bedroom and bathroom. The upstairs bathroom is where the large jetted tub is. It boasts a view out the main cabin windows, but the obvious trade-off is that there's a view INTO the bathroom as well. Again, this was not an issue for us, but it bears mentioning when larger families or groups are considering staying.

Another point of clarification is the beach access. It was more difficult than we expected. In fact, even after following all of the posted hiking trails, we really didn't find a viable path to anything we would call a beach. We did make it to the water's edge at Seal Point, and it was very cool to watch the seals playing in the surf. It's a nifty trail through a dark tunnel of vegetation, followed by a steep climb down onto rocks, but no beach. There's plenty of easy beach access along Highway 101 in both directions, and getting to the beach wasn't difficult. But we were never able to walk to a beach from the property.

Lastly, the water pressure is pretty low. It's adequate for a basic shower, but the jetted tub took about 40 minutes to fill. We much preferred the hot tub anyway, so this wasn't a big deal for us.

This is not meant to be a negative review at all, we loved our stay at this property. It's just a couple of points we felt bear mentioning for folks who are shopping for a place.

We like to think of the Mountain Pacific Chalet as a 2nd home cabin feel (large A-frame beams & wood ceilings). It's always relaxing & quiet. If your the outdoor type, there are forest trails with a huge tree just behind the cabin & beach access if your ok with a little climbing. These days I just like to get away, relaxing in the hot tub or just watching a movie while the wife reads a book on the balcony. There are ocean waves in sight from almost anywhere on the property and in the house, forcing me to slow down & just enjoy. I really appreciate that you can't see the hwy as well. The furniture is comfortable & sturdy. It has a fully equipped kitchen & modern washer/dryer letting you stay in for days or Yachats is just north with several nice restaurants & stores. My parents came along last year and couldn't get over the view (they sat by the windows the whole stay). I was so happy they enjoyed it so much!

We have rented many cabins through VRBO across this beautiful country of ours, but this cabin in this location may just be at the very top of our list! To sit in a hot tub high above the road, nestled in the privacy of trees, but with a stunning view of the sunset over the Pacific is nothing less than pure bliss! The cabin affords lovely views through its large windows as well. The trails around it are nice, but it is a challenge to get to the beach. That didn't bother us though, as we enjoyed driving along the coast and finding easier places to get to the beach anyway. The drive from Florence to Yachats is incredible, and the scenic roads, trails and beaches along that area are just gorgeous. We didn't want to leave!

The chalet was a little tough to find in the dark after a long day of travel, but well worth it when we arrived. When we woke up in the morning could not believe the view out the front windows. The place was very clean and well furnished with all the supplies we needed for our 4 night stay. The upstairs bath is a little strange with the open wall to the front, but the teenagers didn't mind. The trail around the back of the cabin is short but a very nice walking trail. To get down to the beach is a bit of a challenge. There are ropes attached into the hills to climb up and down as it is very steep. We are in our early 50s and had no problems negotiating the climbs. Their is a very nice and clean hot tub out front on a small deck which was a fantastic place to watch the beautiful sunsets. All in all a very nice cabin that was a perfect base for the 4 of us to explore the Oregon coast.

The craggy Scotland-like Oregon coast is amazing. We sat outside the chalet and saw a few migrating whales. The location is convenient to the dunes, Florence, boat rides and other activities. A walk up to the "big tree" behind the chalet is fun too. If you want a low key and quiet place to stay on the Oregon Coast, this is the place. Numerous golf courses, restaurants, the lighthouse, Sea Lion Caves and beaches/state parks are very close. I would definitely go back to this place.

My husband and I had a wonderful vacation at the Mountain Pacific Chalet. The privacy and seclusion of this cabin are amazing. The chalet itself is beautiful and it is tucked up in the forest overlooking the ocean. The leather sofas and large antique chairs were perfect to watch the waves of the Pacific Ocean crash onto the beach. I love all of the woodwork and the woodstove with glass front is really nice for a romantic evening.

There trails around the chalet are well maintained and take you down to the beach or up into the forest to the "Giant Tree" so you get the best of both worlds. Although this cabin is secluded there are many recreational areas nearby and a short drive to Florence or Yachats can put you into some great local seafood, which we enjoyed each evening around the beautiful antique dining table. The views from every room are fantastic, not to mention the hot tub. This chalet has everything we needed on our vacation.

The cabin is clean, well maintained, and the photos provide a good reflection of the property. I have already recommended this property to many friends and family members and will continue to do so. Thanks for fabulous vacation!

There were a few beautiful sunny days as well. The Big Tree Trail out back is just a short (uphill) hike to some old growth trees that provided a cathedral atmosphere. We saw some Whales from the house and the Harbor Seals haul up on the rocks below every day at low tide. Between Florence and Yachats we had everything we needed. This is a great house. Wonderful place to enjoy the ocean and hidden in the amazing trees. Especially loved the trails....the rope climb inspired me (probably a good idea to eliminate rope to the road). 2nd favorite was trail to seal rock. Then the trail through the magnificent trees.

We stayed on the beach nearly all the first day. The only day we went to Florence, was a rainy one, so did not get a chance to roam the sand dunes. It was the only time we ate away from lodge. We had our own precious cooks. Also the dog (Charly), loved the locked shed, must have been a varmit?, that made it a home.

We watched seals swim by everyday we were there from the huge windows across the front of the cabin. It was clean, and comfortable, with all the appliances you would need. I read another review where they complained about the lack of a flat screen television. With a view like that, why would you need a television?! We were pleasantly surprised at what we got for the price we paid. It was just excellent, that about says it all. I can still see those waves crashing upon the beach below, wow, never forget it.

This cabin is beautifully maintained. The view is breathtaking and the hot tub is amazing! It's minutes away from the beach on foot, as well as from beautiful hikes through the forest. The cabin is quiet, spacious, has all the modern conveniences and very comfy beds. It's easy to see that the owner takes pride in his property, and it makes for a great, secluded getaway. I loved that is within reach of all the best things the Oregon coast has to offer from a lighthouse and tide pools, to Florence for great fresh sea food and coffee shops. I left rested and incredibly pleased!

Excellent Vacation

We loved the location and property so much we extended our stay. The chalet has incredible ocean views, great trails right outside the front door, and is minutes from many wonderful natural areas. We watched whales spouting from the hot tub! Although I could have spent most of the vacation enjoying the ocean from the huge front windows, we spent hours tidepooling, beach combing, and hiking at nearby Cape Perpetua. Florence was a great stop for coffee, ice cream, or seafood after a long day getting our feet sandy at the beach. We never ran out of things to do, and the owner was wonderful about providing tips about the local area.

The chalet is beautiful and well-maintained with all the comforts of home. We loved the incredible sense of privacy--no other houses in view, only the ocean. We enjoyed being able to cook and share good meals with friends in the full kitchen. It was great to show up and have everything we needed there (especially the big coffee maker and well-seasoned cast iron pans). There were even binoculars and a hiking stick ready to go!

I would highly recommend this property as a great place to stay during a fantastic vacation.

I couldn't recommend the Mountain Pacific Chalet more. The property itself is so nice (beautiful views from inside and the hot-tub, paths to the beach to see the seals...) that it was tempting to spend much of our vacation right there. But with countless beaches in each direction on the Pacific Coast Highway, and old-town Florence to visit, there is more to see and do than we ever could in a week. We enjoyed the tide-pooling and whale-watching at Cape Perpetua and the miles of sandy beaches south of Florence especially. There's no need to take a long drive to get to somewhere interesting. I would recommend this rental without reservation.

Five childhood friends stayed here for annual reunion. Beautiful stretch of coast, great views, tall trees, easy drive to Yachats or Florence. Right off Highway 101 but could not hear or see it from the house. Hottub was great, but took some time to reach full temp. Not sure if it stays hot during daytime. Trail access to beach is fun but requires reasonable fitness and ability to scramble up and down steep slopes. Once down to the beach, it's a fabulous stretch for tidepooling at low tide, rock-hunting and exploring. Do not expect bedroom privacy for more than one person or couple. Loft beds and loft bathroom noises open to living area below. This house has very poor lighting. Only one small overhead light in kitchen area. Poor lamp lighting for living area, making it difficult for more than 2 people to read or knit at a time. Kitchen pots, pans and knives could use updating. Overall, I recommend it for people who don't need immediate beach access or ready access to stores and restaurants. Bring your own better cooking implements, and bring a few lamps!

Hi Lisa, I'm so pleased to hear you had such a great time at the cabin, as well as down on the beach. The cabin and the area really are quite unique! Hearing you describe your experience as "fabulous" makes us feel really rewarded! My staff and I strive to keep our 5 Star Rating, so it pleases us very much to hear your comments.

We just want you to know that we added more lights in the kitchen area and we also added new and brighter floor lamps in the Great Room. We also added much brighter bulbs in the fan/light in the Great Room.

We looked into our kitchen and found out that our best cookware had been "borrowed". Thank goodness our vintage copper cookware was still there. We re-stocked the entire kitchen with new high quality cookware.

We want to thank you very much for your comments and look forward to seeing you again in the very near future!

Our vacation to The Mountain Pacific Chalet was the most amazing and memorable vacation I have ever been on. Thank you for providing such a beautiful, relaxing and simply amazing vacation home for us to spend our week in. The house was everything and more than we expected; clean, bright, spacious and beautiful!!! The area the house is in is perfect for fishing, hiking and exploring the ocean. The Mountain Pacific Chalet will always have a special place in my heart because my sweetie asked me to MARRY him there. I am so thankful that he found the PERFECT place for us. Anyone who is lucky enough to rent this place will not regret it. Thank you Brian for everything!

We had the most fun and relaxing experience in a long time. The lodge just welcomes you in and says relax, with a sensational ocean view from anywhere in the house. Perfect for kicking back and enjoying a warm cozy fire, watching the sea break, playing games, reading a book, sitting in the hot tub with probably the best ocean view on the oregon coast from a hot tub.....hands down and I have lived here 31 yrs. Another thing about this place is there are 5 beautiful hikes to either the old growth forest, or the beach. We are big rock collectors and found so many beautiful agates, jasper etc. As well as enjoy the beautiful cobblestone beach's with so much to see. The best part about it, is that all these hikes and things to do........are right there. No driving anywhere just right outside your front door. Cant wait to go the cabin in Alaska. Thanks again for a wonderful experience.

My husband and I just recently went to the Mountain Pacific Chalet. It is described as a place 'where the forest meets the sea'. That is no exaggeration! I was concerned about 8 of us staying, whether or not we would be crowded. We all had plenty of room. We played games, chatted, and absorbed the serene surroundings. We never drove anywhere. From the cabin, we had many adventures tho. The well kept trails are an added blessing. Our first hike took us up hill to an old tree that is HUGE! All 4 of us girls holding hands could only stretch across the front of it. Our beach trips were full of fun and adventure. From propelling down to the sea by rope, to taking well kept trails to the beach, all the needs of our company were met. My favorite was the Sea Lion Trail. I can not believe I have lived here 18 years and have never been to any of those special spots.

Our hot tub nights under the moon lite skies were to die for. Sitting in the hot tub, you feel you are in the middle of the ocean. It is the most amazing illusion. When you are sitting in the hot tub looking out into the ocean, the water is level with the ocean. Nothing blocking your view....just wide open spaces.

May sound strange, but something I really liked was as we were leaving the 'hot tub guy' showed up. They actually change the water for each new group. Yep, after every group checks out the tub is drained, cleaned, and refilled. That sealed the deal for me:)

We will definitely be back! We want to bring our children next time. Thank you so much for such a memorable weekend.

Visiting the Oregon Coast

Stayed Jan 2013

My first visit was with my husband and daughter. We had a blast walking along the beach, looking for polished rocks and checking out tidal pools for sea urchins and star fish. My daughter and her uncle found a mysterious tin that turned out to be hot chocolate. We visited the nearby Sea Lion Caves and the Oregon Coast Aquarium to learn more about the coast and marine life.

My second visit was at the end of a business trip in February. It was a wonderful place to relax and rejuvenate. It was delightful to just sit and watch the ocean and sunsets. Of course, a few walks along the beach and at Cape Perpetua were delightful. Brian was a very gracious host and very helpful.

The chalet is charming and comfortable. I love all the windows and feeling as if the outdoors is right within reach. I have and will continue to recommend the Mountain Pacific Chalet to friends who are traveling in the area.

Beautiful Chalet, Great Location!

My family has stayed at this chalet several times. It is a great place for kids. This trip my husband and I decided to get away by ourselves, but we have brought our son before. He loves coming here, playing in the woods and on the beach.

We really enjoy the seclusion and the peacefulness that this chalet offers. We love to get up in the morning and sip our coffee in the great room, looking out over the ocean and listen to the waves crash on the beach. You can also see the seals basking in the sun on the rocks at low tide from the great room.

The trails are very nice and well maintained. The Giant Tree trail takes you to a tree that is just that, a beautiful giant spruce tree. I have to say though that I really like taking the trail to the beach, using the ropes to get down to the beach, and then hunting for jade, jasper and agates of which I have found many. We are always the only ones on the beach. After our fun on the beach we enjoy taking the Seal Point trail to go back to the chalet. You can look down on the seals and the top of the trail goes through a tunnel in the vegetation. Almost like your own secret trail!

The privacy and seclusion of this chalet just can't be beat and yet you are near many recreation areas, Florence and Yachats so there is always lots to do. The chalet itself is beautiful. It is nestled in the woods overlooking the ocean. I love all of the woodwork and the woodstove with glass front is really nice for a romantic evening. You can tell the owner put a lot of thought into the home. The views from every room are fantastic, not to mention the hot tub. The beds and furniture have been updated since our last trip and the leather couches are a nice touch! This chalet has everything you could need on your vacation. We just show up with our luggage, have a great time and go home. You don't need to worry about dishes, linens, towels, or anything. It is all provided. I ended up working a few days during this trip. The internet was fast and I didn't have any trouble with it.

The chalet is clean, well maintained, and the photos provide a good reflection of the chalet. I have already recommended this chalet to many friends and family members and will continue to do so. Thanks for another great vacation!

This chalet is a great place! The trails are pretty cool, especially using the ropes on the trail to the beach. It was warm one day on the beach and perfect to go into the surf to cool off, which was a blast. The cabin is near Heceta Head Lighthouse, which was a lot of fun to see. I also spent some time at the dunes in Florence. The chalet is very nice, was clean and very well maintained. I really enjoyed the hot tub too. The view from the hot tub is amazing! I will definitely recommend the Mountain Pacific Chalet to my friends and family.

I've stayed at the Mountain Pacific Chalet twice. Once it was to have a family reunion and this last time I came solo to write my novel. I really loved staying here alone! The views are amazing and inspiring and it is so quiet that I was able to really concentrate. I hiked the trails when I needed a break and it is a short drive to a state park with a super long beach for running. The hot tub is a perfect way to end the day. Even though the house can easily accommodate several people, don't be afraid to come here alone or with one other person. The upstairs is open and you can sit in the tub and look at the ocean far below. I got food in Florence and was able to cook in the kitchen every night instead of going out, which was preferable to me. The location up the driveway means that you don't hear highway noise and don't feel like some weirdo is going to drive right up. If you want night life this is not the place, unless you like natural night life..stars and ocean and peace. Wish I was there right now!

This is the second time we have stayed at this house. The view is outstanding on stormy, winter days and beautiful sunny days. It is in a quiet wooded area above the Pacific Ocean. It features beautiful views from the living room/great room and the hot tub. To get to the beach it is a short walk and a bit of an adventure (my teenagers loved it). It was a good size for my family of 6. The property owner recently did some nice updates and the house was clean with all the necessities. There are many fun things to do in the area including crabbing, beach combing, hiking and playing on the sand dunes.

Stayed Jul 2012

We loved the house and the privacy. Only negative thing, if it can be called negative, is that we had a big black bear visit every night around 9:00 pm and sometimes after we went to sleep. Loved the garbage cans! We took lots of pictures! My first bear to see in the wild. Consequently, we did not hike the trails which surround the house. That was one of our deciding factors of choosing the house in the first place, but overall, we had a wonderful tiime. View of the ocean was breathtaking! As my son-in-law said, "Best vacation I ever had"! Property as gorgeous as the pictures - very clean. Close to "fun" for all ages! Owner and staff with rental company very friendly and helpful. We will rent again.

A Beautiful, Tranquil Chalet

Stayed Jun 2012

The Mountain Pacific Chalet is located along a stretch of one of the most picturesque areas along the Oregon Coast Highway. My wife and I spent a week in back-to-back years exploring the forests, beaches, State Parks, and scenic viewpoints in the area. We had so much fun the first time we had to return to explore even more!

This beautiful house sits above the ocean and back in the forest, providing a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean. We spent many relaxing hours sitting back, watching the waves come in. We also spotted a few whales! The Chalet includes all of your basic necessities, and then some. It is very roomy, and has an upstairs hot tub that looks out over the ocean. The wood burning stove kept us nice and toasty during a couple of chilly mornings. The outdoor jacuzzi provided an outstanding view of the Pacific. The Chalet is unquestionably stunning, inside and out. The trails that wind throughout the property provide breathtaking views. One trail took us right down to the beach. Another led to an outlook where we spotted dozens of seals lounging on the rocks. Walking the trails was quite a remarkable experience.

The towns of Yachats and Florence were just a short drive away. There are shops, diners, and many other things to do. Yachats’ Ocean View Drive has spectacular views of the ocean. In Florence, we saw several lakes, walked along the Pacific jetty, and saw awesome sand dunes and beaches. These areas also sport a few spectacular bridges. Other must-see attractions include Cape Perpetua, the Heceta Head Light House, and the outstanding Pacific sunsets.

Overall, both of our vacations here were relaxing and exciting at the same time! The Chalet is very clean, well furnished, and well maintained, inside and out. I highly recommend the stay for the scenery, the wildlife, the plant life, and not to mention, the remarkable Chalet itself. In addition, the folks that live in the area are very nice and hospitable.

The pictures are very accurate as to the layout of the house and what to expect, only they don't convey the true beauty of the home, the grounds, or the surrounding area! My husband and I have been there twice and will be returning again as soon as we can!

The private trials are amazing, with my favorite trail being Seal Point Trail. It leads you through an amazing tunnel of vegetation and you end up on a lookout directly above where the harbor seals rest during much of the day! I likened it to Alice in Wonderland! Walking around the front of the house and to the North, we found a little waterfall! The picnic table is one of my favorite amenities! It's convenient, beautiful and it's huge!! I was often found sitting out at the table enjoying the immediate location when not out on an adventure!

As for the surrounding area, there are so many beautiful places to explore that I couldn't list them all and I've not seen them all in the 2 different weeks that we've been there. These are my favorites though. Yachats is a fantastic little town and the people are very welcoming and friendlyl! Stopping anywhere there will be enjoyable! Cape Perpetua is worth the hike up the mountain! There are so many things missed if you just drive to the top. Devil's Churn is fantastic at high tide! The tide pools on the beach in the morning at low tide are something that should not be missed. The Heceta Head Light House is a favorite spot for us! The view is obviously breathtaking and the bird and sea life that you can see is so cool! Florence is bigger than Yachets with a lot of nice restaurants! Beachcomber Pub was one that we went to a few times and we really liked the food and the atmosphere!

Be sure to bring your camera with a spare SD card and back up batteries! You'll be astounded at the pristine beauty that surrounds you! Everywhere you look, regardless of weather, you'll see new, exciting and absolutely beautify things!

Overall, this is one of my most favorite places! You can't go wrong staying at The Mountain Pacific Chalet!

The Mountain Pacific Chalet was a great place to rest and de-stress! The location is perfect because it is far enough removed from other places that you have privacy but close enough to civilization if you get the itch to meet others, see some sights, and go shopping. My favorite parts were the nearby trails and beach access. There is, of course, nothing like a nice hot tub after a day at the sand dunes! There is something for the whole family nearby. We not only enjoyed falling asleep to the sounds of the ocean just a stone's throw away but the Sea Lion Caves and other nearby National Parks. My family and I even had time to take a car ride to see the giant redwoods of California and then get back to the chalet to watch the sunset from the hot tub. I'm planning my next trip back and encourage all of my family and friends to stay here.
